Overview

World School Mexico is a new worldschooling program in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, founded by Ashley and Oscar. The program is held at Trino, a restaurant and family complex that is Oscar's family property, built over the course of ten years. The setting is ecological and hands-on — animals, gardens, and natural building materials form the backdrop for daily learning.

The philosophy is rooted in natural, interconnected education that respects nature. Children learn in an environment that feels organic rather than institutional. Oscar, who has Zapotec heritage from Oaxaca, serves as a spiritual and cultural guide, weaving ancient wisdom into practical, hands-on activities. Locations & Dates

The program operates in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, at the Trino restaurant and family complex. San Miguel de Allende is a UNESCO World Heritage city in central Mexico known for its colonial architecture, vibrant arts scene, and established expat community.

World School Mexico offers:

Ages & Format

Ages served: 3 to 14 years old.

Current schedule (as of early 2026):

  • Monday afternoons: Eco lab session.
  • Wednesday through Friday: 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
  • Thursday extended day: Until 4:30 PM for an additional eco lab session.

The program is currently part-time and not yet operating on a full-time schedule. This is expected to evolve as the program grows.

Core classes include:

  • Eco Lab: Taught by Oscar. Children work with construction, Japanese wood preservation techniques (shou sugi ban), bamboo, natural building methods, and supervised power tool use.
  • Art: Beeswax sculpture, natural materials, and creative expression.
  • Spanish: Language instruction integrated into daily activities.
  • Mexican Cooking: Taught by Oscar's father, Ruben, featuring traditional Mexican dishes.
  • Story Time, Games, and Excursions: Rounding out the weekly schedule.

Expanding offerings planned or in development include horseback riding, archery, circus arts, folkloric dance, guitar, yoga, and horsemanship.

The community is a hybrid of local homeschooling families who use the program for enrichment and rotating worldschooling families passing through San Miguel de Allende.
