El Valle Lighthouse it's not a school - it's an alternative to school. It is a living learning space, an alternative to conventional education, designed for children ages 5–12 and the families who are seeking a slower, more connected way of growing and learning.

At El Valle Lighthouse, we do not follow a fixed curriculum - we listen, observe, and respond. Learning here is not something we deliver; it is something that unfolds.

In a world that moves quickly and often disconnects us from what is essential, we choose a different rhythm. We believe education should be alive, relational, and rooted in real experience. Our approach evolves with the children, flows with the seasons, and is shaped by what is meaningful in the present moment.

Rather than being guided by external systems, we are guided by values - presence, connection, and respect for each child's inner timing. We pay attention to what is emerging, both individually and as a group, and allow that to inform the path of learning.

We move slowly enough to notice, to notice the child, the group, the environment, and ourselves. Through shared rhythms, time in nature, creative expression, and meaningful dialogue, children develop a deeper relationship with themselves and the world around them.

The Wayfinders Program (Ages 5–12)

At El Valle Lighthouse, children ages 5–12 are in a stage of growing independence, curiosity, and capability. Our program supports this transition by offering a balance of rhythm, responsibility, creativity, and real-world experience within a small, mixed-age community.

Rather than following a fixed curriculum, we create a structured yet flexible environment where children can develop skills, build confidence, and engage meaningfully with the world around them.

Emotional Awareness & Social Development

Relationships are at the center of the Wayfinders experience. Through daily interactions, group conversations, and shared challenges, children learn to:

Communicate clearly and respectfully
Navigate conflict and collaboration
Develop empathy and awareness of others
Build confidence in their voice and presence

This work happens naturally through real experiences, rather than formal lessons.

Presence, Focus & Inner Discipline

Children are supported in developing focus, attention, and self-regulation. Through simple daily practices such as:

They begin to strengthen their ability to concentrate, follow through, and take ownership of their learning.

Movement, Play & Physical Development

A Day at El Valle Lighthouse

9:30 AM – 2:30 PM

At El Valle Lighthouse, we value rhythm and flow. While our program is flexible and responsive, each day follows a clear structure that helps children feel grounded, focused, and connected.

Our day is held in four main parts: Arrival & Circle, Focus Time, Midday Reset, and Exploration Time.

9:30 – 10:00 — Arrival & Morning Circle

Children arrive, settle into the space, and begin the day together. Morning circle includes:

Greeting and check-in
Songs, verse, or storytelling
Setting intentions for the day
Overview of the day's flow

This time helps children transition into the day with presence and connection.

10:00 – 10:45 — Nature Play & Morning Snack

Children move into outdoor play and exploration. This includes:

Free play in nature
Light group games
Informal social time
Morning snack

This time supports movement, regulation, and connection before focused work.

10:45 – 11:45 — Focus Time (Literacy & Math)

Children engage in individualized academic work. This may include:

Reading and writing
Math practice
Journaling or project documentation

Children work at their own pace, with guidance and support as needed. The goal is to build focus, independence, and confidence.

11:45 – 12:30 — Lunch & Free Time

A shared meal and time to rest, play, or connect informally. Children are encouraged to:

Eat mindfully
Help with simple clean-up
Rest or engage in calm play

12:30 – 2:20 — Exploration Time (Projects, Skills & Creativity)

This is the most dynamic part of the day. Children engage in hands-on, experiential learning such as:

Creative projects (art, crafts, building)

Occasional mentor-led workshops

Packages & Pricing

El Valle Lighthouse is a small, relationship-based learning space rooted in nature, creativity, and meaningful childhood.

Our program runs 4 days per week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM.

We welcome both long-term families and short-term worldschooling stays.

Monthly Tuition

1 month: $720 per month
2–3 months: $650 per month
4–5 months: $580 per month
6+ months: $520 per month

Weekly Options (Short-Term Families)

Visiting week (up to 4 days): $300 per week
Additional weeks for enrolled families: $180 per week

Additional Costs

Some specialized workshops or personal projects may require additional materials or contributions. Families will always be informed in advance.

Enrollment, Deposit & Payment

A non-refundable deposit of $300 USD per child is required to reserve a space.

The deposit secures your child's place in the program
It is applied toward the first month's tuition
Spaces are limited and offered on a first-confirmed basis

Tuition is charged monthly in USD.

Payments are due on the 1st day of each month
All payments are made in advance
Tuition reserves your child's place within the program regardless of attendance

Attendance & Absences

Tuition covers your child's place in the program, not individual attendance days. For this reason:

Absences, sick days, travel, or early departures are not refundable
A "month" is considered a reserved space, not a count of attended days

This helps maintain consistency and group stability within the community.

Weekly & Short-Term Participation

For visiting families:

Weekly participation (4 program days) is available at a fixed rate
Priority is given to families enrolled for longer periods
Additional weeks may be offered depending on availability

Program Commitment

Monthly pricing is reduced for longer-term enrollments. Families are encouraged to communicate their intended duration in advance so we can offer the most aligned pricing structure.

Bitcoin Payment Option

El Valle Lighthouse is one of the few Bitcoin-friendly worldschooling programs in Central America. We offer Bitcoin (BTC) as an optional payment method so worldschooling families paying in cryptocurrency can settle tuition the same way they manage their broader nomadic finances. Families who choose to pay with Bitcoin receive a $40 USD discount per payment.

BTC invoices are calculated using the current market rate at the time of invoicing
Payment must be completed within the requested timeframe to receive the discount

This option is offered as a flexible alternative for worldschooling and digital nomad families who prefer decentralized payment methods.

Sibling Discount

El Valle Lighthouse offers sibling discounts for worldschooling families with multiple children:

10% off tuition for 2nd child
15% off tuition for 3rd child

Only one discount applies per child. This makes it more accessible for families with two or three kids to participate in the program long-term.

Application & Enrollment

El Valle Lighthouse is a small, mixed-age learning community with limited enrollment. Our intention is to create a calm, connected environment where children feel safe, supported, and able to thrive socially, emotionally, and creatively. For this reason, enrollment is based not only on availability, but also on overall group dynamics and alignment.

Who This Space Is For

Children who join El Valle Lighthouse generally:

Enjoy exploration, creativity, and outdoor experiences
Can participate within a small group environment
Are developing age-appropriate independence and self-regulation
Benefit from flexible, relationship-based learning environments

Children do not need to fit a mold or behave perfectly. We simply seek to ensure that the environment remains supportive and workable for the group as a whole.

Support & Scope

At this stage, El Valle Lighthouse is not able to provide:

One-on-one therapeutic support
Intensive behavioral intervention
Specialized educational services

We share this transparently to support the well-being of both the child and the community.

Language

The primary language of El Valle Lighthouse is English. Children should have a functional level of English in order to participate comfortably in the group environment. Spanish naturally exists within the community, and bilingual children are warmly welcomed.

About Us

El Valle Lighthouse is held by Stephanie, JC, and our daughter Amazon, together with a growing community of families, guides, and mentors rooted in conscious living, nature, and meaningful connection.

Stephanie's path began in Montessori education, where she spent eight years working with children in a hands-on, child-centered environment. Over time, her journey expanded into Waldorf-inspired education, Reggio Emilia, forest school, and community-based learning spaces centered around free play, creativity, and emotional connection.

After becoming a mother, she felt deeply called to create spaces where families could gather in a more authentic and connected way. This led to the creation of The Mothering in Miami and later Panama Nature Playgroup in Panama City, Panama communities rooted in conscious parenting, nature immersion, open-ended play, and meaningful relationships.

Today, she continues to hold parent-child gatherings for the early years while developing El Valle Lighthouse as a place where children and families can experience a slower, more grounded approach to learning and life.

JC brings a deep connection to sustainability, agriculture, and hands-on living through his work in indoor farming and food-growing systems. His presence within the project supports the connection between children, land, food, and practical life skills.

Together as a family, we are creating a space that values simplicity, creativity, nature, community, and childhood itself.
